That Ingrate Matt Gave Me Priceless Paraiba Tourmalines
I have some good news and some bad news. I just received a package in the fedex mail today containing two shiny blue green paraiba tourmaline gemstones. Too bad they came from Matt.
You’re probably wondering why I ended up in this nursing when I’m supposed to be a successful insurance agent who ran my own brokerage. Well, if you ask me, I was supposed to still be running my own company when that ingrate Matt had me shipped to this hole.
Four years ago, I still referred to Matt as “my fourth son,” but then he figured he’d earn more than his $50,000 monthly allowance. He wasted no time spreading around that I was down to my last hair – my last hair of sanity.
Of course, my Board of Directors didn’t like that bit of news - they thought they’d give my company a boost by outing me as Chairman … and you know the rest. Matt the Bratt took over my company and made the board decide to pay for my expenses in the retirement home as part of my retirement package.
Do I regret forcing Matt to keep receipts on how he spent his $50,000 monthly allowance? I certainly don’t.

I’d say I now love counting the cracks on my room’s ceiling. It’s better than counting the number of sales prospects that my agents were not following up.
But that’s all Matt’s problem now. I just bet he’s scratching his head on who’d buy his hybrid insurance programs – those healthcare/life insurance/savings programs. They’re definitely a joke to oldsters like me.
In fairness to that ingrate, the paraiba tourmaline stones he sent were, indeed, gorgeous. I asked Steve, and he said (nay, shouted to my ear) that they were precious Paraiba stones. They can only be found in Nigeria and in Paraiba, Brazil. Hmmm. I wonder if that ingrate was trying to make up to his grumpy old man.
Holding the two Paraiba gemstones in my hand, I can only sum them up in six words: more precious than my best insurance sale. These Paraiba Tormaline gemstones are vividly shiny and have a turquoise blue green color. They actually look like blue diamonds. While the first stone had a smooth surface, the other was shaped in facets.
Steve told me yesterday that the Paraiba stones’ vivid shine is because of the copper in their chemical composition. He said too that they’re very expensive and paraiba tourmaline rings go for thousands of dollars. Interesting bit. Now if I only knew what to do with them.
I think I’ll call that ingrate Matt and tell him I am selling his paraiba stones.
